| Sunday Salon Series Presents Classical Music January 13, 2008 FREE This Sunday Salon weekly series explores the rich landscape of classical music, from familiar Western orchestral compositions to contemporary improvisational forms and international classical traditions, plus family-friendly programs. "Chicago Chamber Orchestra" Continuing their cycle of music by Franz Joseph Haydn, the Chicago Chamber Orchestra is joined by acclaimed Israeli cellist Amit Peled for his Concerto for Violoncello No.1 in C Major. The program will also feature Malcolm Arnold’s Sinfonietta No. 1, Four Intermezzi by prominent East German composer Kurt Schwaen and the world premiere of Frank Abbinanti’s Ostalgia. This work, dedicated to the Chicago Chamber Orchestra, is intended as a reminiscence of the ensemble’s tour of East Germany in 1989, prior to the fall of the Berlin wall. Maestro Dieter Kober conducts, celebrating his 56th season as Music Director, the longest tenure of continuous service for any professional orchestra in the world.
